So what exactly is the advantage of free membership, getting stuck on one of your mailing lists? Once I registered, I attempted to download a file, and was told that I had already reached my limit for the day. Really? I reached my limit before even attempting a download? Does that mean my download limit for free membership is 0?!?

Explain to me why I would want to bother with a free membership on your site? If I cannot get a sample of what you offer, why would I ever bother paying for any of it?

Shane – thanks for pointing out some less-than-intuitive aspects of our Basic membership. Your comment caused us to evaluate the process you went through, and the short version is: we agree with you. The value of the Basic membership wasn’t obvious, so we made some changes. Here’s what they are:

1. Basic memberships now get one free download of the tool of the member’s choice.

2. There is no longer any Zip file to retrieve – all of our free content (methodologies, weekly featured content and some other tools) are easy to find on our site. Downloading them doesn’t require a download credit, but you do need to login to download them.

We think we’ve addressed the issues you raised, but we’ll let you and our other Basic members be the judge of that. Let us know what you think!
